story&sale is a partnership between Michael Hess and Matt Rosenberg, who began working together in 2010 building sales and sales marketing organizations that drive revenue growth through consistent and well-trained focus on sales narratives , skills training, and strategic foundation-building .
Matt and Michael have held senior leadership roles in agencies, publishers, ad tech companies, programmatic, video, social, creative technology, and SaaS businesses, and consulted with businesses large and small in advertising, publishing, travel, social media, technology, and media. Our mission is to help our clients achieve sustained growth.

Matt Rosenberg — story
Matt is a 26 year digital marketing veteran who specializes in helping companies frame complex technology offerings inside relatable, value-driven stories, sales materials, and thought leadership content. He's worked with leading creative, user experience, media, mobile, and programmatic companies and projects.
As a consultant, Matt’s engagement have included Acting CMO roles and included structuring and developing marketing teams, updating brands and marketin positioning , launching new products, setting go-to-market strategies, and working with Sales leadership to develop best-in-class sales collateral and training sellers on the stories and obstacle-handling that drives revenue.
Matt has helped companies as diverse as Pinterest, Say Media, Tremor Video, Telaria, Clinch, Helixa, Travelport, and the IAB turn complex and often technical stories into simple, relatable, differentiated, and re-tellable narratives that drive sales. He has led strategic, media, and creative engagements for Omnicom's Organic agency, led Strategy and Research for VideoEgg/SAY Media, and worked as CMO at ad tech firms 140 Proof and ChoiceStream.
With an earlier career as a television comedy writer, Matt deeply understands that a brand and a sales narrative are only as good as the audience’s reaction to it.
Michael Hess — sale
Michael has passionately dedicated his entire career to sales. For the last 10 years, Michael has dedicated his energies as an advisor helping companies of all sizes grow revenues by sharing the broad range of skills and experiences acquired through 25+ years working in executive sales leadership roles.
Given a broad range of experiences as a seller (Hearst Magazines), then a digital entrepreneur (WebRep, 2CAN Media), start-up sales manager, (Velti Mobile, VideoEgg, SAY Media), and executive sales leader (Rolling Stone, The New Yorker), Michael harvested valuable knowledge on every road and enthusiastically shares it with his advisory clientele.
A self-proclaimed sales fundamentalist, Michael focuses his work in three areas: process and procedure, sales skills development, and management development. Most importantly, Michael’s approaches, frameworks, and teachings are actionable, relevant, and results oriented.
When not working, Michael plays fetch with his Vizsla dogs and yells at golf balls veering far to the right...both hobbies instill the same type of patience and stamina required of advising hard-charging revenue warriors how to develop and apply refined and precise skills.
